Hey Hey Hey!

I have had quite a few people ask me what foundation I use, how do I get this "flawless face", etc. Although with taking very much care of my skin, I do use some awesome foundations and I wanted to share with you all which ones!

  • Maybelline FIT ME in 230
  • MAC Studio Sculpt in NC30
  • Revlon PhotoReady in 008 Golden Beige
  • Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich in Warm Natural 4.5
I have been using these foundations for quite a few months, some of them even years! All these are medium-full coverage, and buildable!

My sister recently told me "You always go for that Kim Kardashian face." I wasn't sure how to take that considering she's very opinionated and forward with her words, but I love Kim so who cares! Kim conceals EVERYTHING. And SO DO I. I dont need full coverage foundation, but I love wearing it. It gives an amazing finish to my face and I absolutely LOVE it!

Maybelline FIT ME Foundation is an AWESOME drug store brand foundation. Legit, for like $6-$7 dollars you are getting a bang for your buck! I LOVE this foundation and actually just purchased my second bottle as during the summer I was a tad darker so for the winter I need a lighter color! This foundation is like medium coverage and is very moisturizing. I have dry skin, it used to be VERY dry, although I have taken great care of it it's only dry once in a while. Still, I need to use moisturizing foundations and this is one! It's easy to blend, easy to build, and SUPER easy to match to your skin!

MAC Studio Sculpt is a thick matte foundation. It is a foundation you need to work with. Not your typical foundation where you can just add some to your face blend and go. For a newbie, this may not be a good start. I have been using this on and off (because I like to switch up my foundations depending where I am going or doing) for about 2 years now. It is a full coverage foundation and somehow still very buildable. This foundation will leave you unbelievably flawless looking!! A little bit goes a long way, and if you work it in to your skin the right way, you will fall in love!

Revlon PhotoReady Foundation is actually quite new to me. A few months ago I purchased it, tried it at home, and took it back. I couldnt stand it! Just a few weeks ago I purchased it again. I didnt put it in any of my hauls because I was REALLY unsure of it. I just purchased it again to REALLY give it a go. If I liked it I would blab about it, and if not, I was seriously going to write to Revlon lol. I sound like a maniac saying that! Haha This time I wore it under different weather conditions, wore it in photos, and I really like it! It matches my skin tone perfectly, which is a super plus! It is very matte and also medium-full coverage. I love the pump action it's got, too! I am enjoying it for now, although still unsure if I'll repurchase in the future. So far so good though!

Bobbi Brown Moisture Rich Foundation is a medium-full coverage foundation. It is matte. This is typically my go-to foundation. For the type of coverage it is, it's very light weight. Unlike the Studio Sculpt, it's super silky and thin. It blends amazing into the skin and leaves room for added coverage! I love this foundation for sure!

I recently got a sample of 2 Chanel foundations that I am honestly in LOVEEEEE with! It forthcoming days I will purchase one of them and give my feedback on both.

What foundations or even tinted moisturizers are you guys loving?

Tip: You can create your own tinted moisturizer by mixing lotion and your foundation together. Try it out, tell me what you think!

Helloooo!!!

I have struck again! I picked up a few things that I needed and well, of course, wanted!

  • EOS Lip Balm in Sweet Mint
  • EOS Lip Balm in Lemon Drop
  • Nail File from Sallys
  • Allure & Vogue Magazines (subscriptions)
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Spray
  • Zoe Thermal Pouch
  • Urban Outfitters Shirt: Leopard Cross
There is a photo at the bottom left of my blog home page.. it's of a girl wearing a white t-shirt with a leopard cross on it. I found that photo a few months ago and almost fell off my chair! I NEEDED IT! I searched for it immediately and didnt find anything. Just a few days ago I decided to search for it again and it came up on Urban Outfitters website.. BOY WAS I THRILLED! It was also on sale for $14.99, so you KNOW I was on that! I purchased it and it finally came in today!! AHHH It's HUGE, haha, the size was a "one size." Therefore, it's ginormous, but I dont care! I am thinking of taking it to my tailor and hope she can do something with it, OR I'll just rock it big the way it is, with some leggings and a belt! Oh -& stilettos, of course!

The other important purchase of this all is the Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. I have heard raves about this for MONTHS now.. My girl Cheryl @ Cheryls Beauty Blog posted about it recently and I just had to finally purchase it. She really knows her stuff. I cant wait to try it!!

The Zoe Thermal Pouch is for my hair straightener when I am on the go! This weekend, as some of you know, I went on a mini vacay to visit my girlfriend and her husband in Upstate New York.. I didnt have any way to store my hair straightener after I straightened my hair. It was actually still hot as I was ready to leave my house so I had to take it as it was and let it sit in the car. Had I had this Thermal Pouch, I would have been all set from the get go. Boo on me for purchasing it too late! BUT, I will have it for the futureeeeee!!

I am still very unsure if I like those EOS Lip Balm thingymajigs.. They taste kinda funny and we all know how I am about lippies that have funky tastes to them. The Lemon Drop one isnt so bad, and the Sweet Mint is OK. I need to keep wearing them to get used to them I guess!

I got those Nail Art Wheels too! I have been meaning to buy those for a while now and kept forgetting. When I stopped in Sallys I saw them and immediately remembered lol - I wanted those for blogging and for my own reference when I want to pick out a nail color! Definitely needed them for blogging too, because I dont want to always have to remove my nail polish to demo a nail color for you all. Having that really makes it easier for me!! Amen for chochkey gadgets like that!

So what I really went shopping for is a new blow dryer.. can you believe that after like 8 years my blow dryer died this weekend! That beast just stopped working on me! HOW DARE IT! I have had that thing since the beginning of time, ok not really, but you know I over exaggerate! haha! Here's what it looked like before it called it quits on me...(the black one pictured below)

The blow dryer to the left is my super super duper old one... lol it's like ancient, but I kept it after it started to go bad on me as a back up dryer... Then I had purchased the BabyLiss Pro (to the right) and it was my magic wand for the last almost 10 years! I lost the cap to the front so I stole it from the blow dryer to the left and taped it together, and I broke the back part that holds all the lint so it's been used that way for a while (the dryer fell). I mean, this thing took beatings and bangs and even got wet a few times - this thing was bound to stop working any day, but I definitely wasnt expecting it to be this weekend.

Anywho, it gave me a reason to buy this badboy!

This thing is NO JOKE! I needed a 2000 Watt dryer. I just love the speed and heat of it. The 1875 Watt dryers really dont work for my hair. Which is why I actually never purchased another dryer other than my Professional BabyLiss Pro, because I just didnt think something would be able to match how amazing it worked for my hair... BUT THIS THING... AHHHHHHHHHHHHH ::angels singing::

I got it on sale for $79.95 from $119.95 @ Ulta. Click HERE for the link to the site. Well worth the money!!!

That's all my new junk!

I have some EXTRA BUCKS to spend at CVS, have any of you purchased any drug store goodies that I can go there and purchase too?? Do tell, do tell!!

Hi ladies!

Quick nail of the day for ya! Actually, nail of the week as my nails have been painted for a few days now and probably will last for another few more days!

I love Essie nail polishes! They are long lasting, most are super pigmented, and their color selection is great!

This color is a pinky nude color. It actually blends in with my skin really well! Haha I guess I have a pinky nude skin color because sometimes when I look down I can hardly tell I'm wearing any polish color! So far I've been wearing this color since Sunday morning around 11:30am. It has not chipped or faded shine. I just love it!!

What Essie nail polishes have you picked up recently? You know me, I am always up for a shopping trip!!

_______________________________________________________

I also wanted to ask you a question and state something!

1. I want to change my blogspot name. Have any of you actually changed your domain name? Like, I am MIXEDWITHLOVE.BLOGSPOT.COM - I want to change the MIXEDWITHLOVE part to something else, but I am scared I am going to lose my followers or my data that I have worked on so hard this year. There is an option to do so in the SETTINGS part of Blogger, but I am hesitant. If you have changed your blogspot name, tell me about your experience!

2. My GIVEAWAY ends soon, so get on that bandwagon for a chance to win some cool stuff!!

Hello my sweet lovelies!

I purchased my very first E.L.F Eyeshadow Quad and E.L.F eyeshadows! *gasp!* Can you believeeeee I didnt own any before this!? *it's okay, you can smack me!*

I have a Target about 3.9569475698456 minutes from my house and mind you, I DO venture there every couple days! I really dont get how someone can shop every single day of their lives - I do keep asking myself that question, but the guilty pleasure, shopaholics anonymous, problem spending side of me refuses to answer. I WILL have to file for bankruptcy one day, or maybe I'll be able to sell everything and get my money back? Or, maybe I am just talking like a moron and should enjoy all the crap I buy and shut up! I'llllll take Option 3 please, with a Tall Double Chocolate Chip from Starbucks, THANKS!

No, really... these eyeshadows ROCK! I own just about everything else from E.L.F, but I havent read many reviews on their eyeshadows nor have I even attempted to purchase and review them myself - so finally purchasing them, excited me!

The color range at Target is not excessive. I purchased every single one they had except for 3. I cant tell you the names of the ones I didnt purchase but I do remember one was a sparkly black, and the other two were highlight colors. I wasnt really intrigued by either due to the fact that I own about 7 "sparkly black" colors and about 15 highlight colors. I dont use them often and didnt want to buy anymore either.

Here are some swatches from individual eyeshadows I purchased!

They are SUPER pigmented! When I swatched these I dipped my finger once, and swiped and this is the color it gave me. They are smooth too, which is a plus for me. I'm not really keen on chalky eyeshadows. Honestly, some MAC Eyeshadows are chalky, and I cant stand them! :/

I LOVE these colors.. makes me super ready for fall! Each eyeshadow cost $1.00. I just love how inexpensive they are and really good quality! I havent used them yet, so I am not sure how they are going to withstand, or if there is excess fallout, but once I do, I'll definitely do a post on it!
_____________________________________________________

Along with these eyeshadows, I purchased the E.L.F Eyeshadow Quad to store these individual eyeshadows. They only store 4 eyeshadows and since I am used to my MAC Palettes where I store about 20 eyeshadows in one case, I figured I'd try and do the same with this little palette. I made an attempt and it worked out pretty well!

Here's what I did!

I removed the inside eyeshadow placement holder thingy-ma-jig. (I used a Makeup Spatula - I received the infamous spatula when I attended the Makeup Academy, but it serves for other purposes as well, AS YOU CAN SEE, haha) You see it clearly can hold 4 eyeshadows perfectly, but I somehow felt that wasn't good enough. Go figure!

By removing the "thingy-ma-jig" I was able to fit one more eyeshadow! Hey, whatever works, right? I would have had one lose eyeshadow hanging around if I didnt remove the insert inside. It was so simple to remove and even went back in after I removed it. In future when I collect more, if I decide to keep 4 eyeshadows in each quad, I can just put it back in! 1 Brownie Point for consolidation skills!

Have any of you done this before? Or have other tips for me!?

XO!

Hey babes!

I was chatting with Jenn @ Jenn's Beauty Confessions about my spice rack full of nail polishes! She was intrigued so I dedicate this post to her!

I've never been a nail polish person.. for the longest time, I'm tawkin' 10 years, I have used the color SUGAR DADDY by ESSIE. That was the extent of "color" I'd put on my nails. I worked in the corporate world for a long time and having exotic nails or looks just wasnt in the proper attire for the company I worked for. I kept it simple and classic for far too long!

Since I started blogging, I realized alot about myself and one was to never be afraid to be me! I love how I can sit here and say that "I am not afraid to be me!" Thank you Blog World and Friends!

How can nail polish express who you are? IN EVERY SINGLE WAY! Are you kidding? I follow Chelsea @ Nail Polish Epicness and boy can she express herself! She does an AMAZING job at nail art and finding the best nail polish colors! I love reading her posts and checking out her photos, I cant and probably will never be as good as her, but I'll continue to follow and pray I gain some of her power! Haha!

So anywho, boy do I ramble...

I have started a "nail polish collection" and have gained a new appreciation for nail polish and wanted to show you my little bundles (of nail polish) I purchased!

This guy has turned into this guy...

You can purchase this spice rack turned nail polish rack at the Container Store. Click HERE for the direct link.

When I purchased this spice rack I didn't even think that I just might outgrow it! Now I am ready for another one! Oy! It's only been like 2 weeks!! It's like my nail polishes are having babies!!

These are a few new polishes I've purchased within the past 2-3 weeks!

Left to Right:
  • I Eat Mainely Lobster
  • It's My Year (Miss Universe Collection)
  • Swimsuit...Nailed It! (Miss Universe Collection)
  • Lucerne-Tainly Look Marvelous
  • Crown Me Already (Miss Universe Collection)
  • Top Coat

Left to Right:
  • Case Study
  • Forever Yummy
  • It's Genius
  • Licorice

Left to Right:
  • Ulta Brand: Pinata-Yada-Yada
  • Sinful Colors: Flower Girl
The Ulta Brand: Pinata-Yada-Yada is the color I used on my nails for my 25th Birthday. I used 3 coats of it to make it exactly how you see in the bottle pictured above! It lasted about 4 days before it started to chip. I got it for free with points from Ulta, so it's okay! It's a pretty color and I didnt mind touching it up!

Hey loves!

As promised here a just a few pics from the events I worked this week!

This was my makeup space for the day.

Self-explanitory :)

Production at it's best!

A Makeup Artist that worked next to me.

This photo was taken on day 2 after we closed down.
My day was quite hectic, and I didn't have time to snap photos.
The girl, first to the left, was the coordinator for the event.
Following her was the rest of us who are Makeup Artists.
Of course in the last photo I am the one with the head piece on! Haha Leave it to me to put something obnoxious on my head! I love accessories, so I'm okay with it! Plus, the weather both days was unbelievable! Raining and storming on and off, and super humid. I had to do something!

Hope you enjoyed!

XO!
Hey babes!

Just wanted to first say my GIVEAWAY ends in just a few days! Get on that bandwagon for a chance to win some pretty cool stuff!!

I know this post is long overdue! My 25th Birthday Celebration took place on September 3rd, as on August 27th Hurricane Irene decided to make an appearance and ruined all plans we had!

Here are some pics!!

My birthday was FANTASTIC! I had such an amazing time with friends and family I wish I could have my birthday every day!

As you can see I switched up my outfit. I originally planned to wear an Armani Exchange dress I purchased, although the day of I realized I needed to wear a tank top underneath because the top was too revealing and I didnt have an appropriate tank to put on (color and length wise) so I had to opt for something else as back up. My tubetop romper type outfit is from Guess. Super comfy and it's black so matched well with everything else! I also was going to have my hair done professionally, but due to the in-climate weather we'd been having I decided to do my own hair because I knew the weather would have ruined it! AS it did, because it was super cute and curly and because of the humidity, it ended up half straight, half medusa style! Yes, MEDUSA!

I also was going to paint my nails all cute and I never did! How lame! :( We had the reschedule the party last minute and move everything around, on top of a hectic week - I just painted them a confetti sparkly color. Nothing too special.

As you can see I got TWO cakes!!! I was soooooo happy!! One cake has my real name which you now know is Elaine. (ELAINE also plays a role in my makeup company name as Ella Lane is Elaine) ;) And the other has my nickname which is Laney. I always sign my signature as LC, because everyone does call me Laney and Couture is just a tag I've had for about 3 years now. Laney Couture is LC. :)

I miss you all, and being away for 5 days made me sad! I was working this week with Mary Kay, Seventeen Magazine, and Cosmopolitan Magazine, as some of you may know! It was for Mary Kay's Fall Into Your Beauty Tour. I was chosen as a Makeup Artist for two events they were hosting at two universities in New Jersey and Pennsylvania! I had such an amazing time doing makeup and meeting new people! I'll have some pics for you on my next post! The staff @ Mary Kay, Seventeen, and Cosmo were such a delight! I definitely look forward to working with them in the future!

How are you all doing?! Cant wait to catch up on your posts and see how everything is going!!

Thanks for all the birthday wishes too!!!

XO!
